Quick thoughts about opening weekend

For the past couple of years, I’ve seen approximately forty-five shows per Festival. I’m not going to hit that this time around. There’s a number of reasons for this, exhaustion from touring being a major one: while most people are on Day Six of Fringing, I’m currently on Day Thirty-Six. It takes a lot of energy for me to sustain my attention right now.

Also, the after-parties have been awesome — for those few that I’ve made it out to — though I notice that the themes seem to be hit-or-miss. Their success seems to largely hinge on how engaged the audience and artists are with them, and I’m not sure how to increase that. After a day of Fringing, I’m inclined to just want to recline with a beer in a corner somewhere.
